The Flower Basket Quilt Pattern

This original piecing pattern is based on the traditional Flower Basket block. The block is 18 x 22-1/2 inches and has large open spaces for background fill-in quilting. And, ALL the applique is done on the longarm machine!!
The Flower Baskets blocks are simple to piece. My class sample, (at the right) took only an afternoon to piece!
ALL the applique, basket handle, flower stems, flowers and leaves, are done with the longarm machine AFTER all the quilting is completed!!
And, all the quilting is done free hand!!!
The applique is a combination of raw edge and raggedy edge quilting, which gives this quilt a rustic, organic or primitive look to it.

The Feather Cable Border
The class project has a large border and we quilted the Feather Cable design in it. And yes, this border design was quilted FREE HAND! Registration lines were marked on the quilt top to define the areas that were being quilted and then the feathers were quilted free hand, using what ever method of feathers you prefer.
The Feather Cable design in the side borders was quilted WITHOUT turning the quilt!!! This class will show you how to do this.

You will be amazed at how relatively easy it is to quilt this border design! The feather cable design works well on a LOT of quilts. If you quilt for a business, customers LOVE feather borders!
